Charges dismissed against New Hanover Co. deputy

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The assault charges filed against a New Hanover County deputy have been dismissed.

Lt. Jerry Brewer said in a news release Wednesday afternoon charges against Deputy Donovan Ray Ramos were voluntarily dismissed by the District Attorney Ben David’s office. Brewer said Deputy Ramos has returned to full duty in the same assignment.

Ramos was arrested and charged by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office February 26 on charges of assault on a female. Ramos was hired by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office in July of 2011.
