State road building on hold for holiday

RALEIGH (AP) — Road building projects in North Carolina will be on hold over the Labor Day weekend to make driving safer and keep traffic flowing.

The Transportation Department says major projects on most Interstate and U.S. highways will stop Friday afternoon and resume Tuesday morning. The I-40 repaving project in Durham County will stop from Friday morning until Tuesday.

Transportation officials say updated road information can be obtained by calling 511 or visiting the Web site: http://www.ncdot.org/traffictravel
