Hospital considers raising rates

WILMINGTON — New Hanover Regional Medical Center is once again considering raising its rates.

The hospital’s finance committee has been presented with an option for a five percent increase.

Hospital representatives say that could add up to $5.5 million to pay for the uninsured and underinsured to make up for cuts in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements.

The finance committee will review the proposed budget at its next meeting on September 20.
