Globetrotters honor local Army veteran

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Harlem Clobetrotters star Zeus McClurkin made a visit to the Battleship North Carolina today in order to honor local Army veteran John Woodlock.

Zeus presented Woodlock with a camouflage Globetrotters jersey and the two were taken on a special tour of the battleship.

The Globetrotters will be honoring a “hometown hero” at each of their 310+ games this year.

“It’s an amazing opportunity if you think about it,” said Zeus McClurkin, a Harlem Globetrotter. “These people have sacrificed so much for us over the years and we don’t even really know how much of a sacrifice they’ve done. And just to be able to give back to our community like that is very special for us.”

The Globetrotters play in Wilmington at Trask Coliseum on Sunday March 29-th at 3 p.m.
