UNCW installs new security sirens, text-message system

WILMINGTON — UNCW has one more way to keep the lines of communication open in case of an emergency.

Sirens were installed on top of two buildings in mid-July. The alert system will be used in emergency situations to let people know to stay inside.

The system cost the school about $50,000.

School officials are working on implementing a text message alert system for the campus.
