Whiteville wins pitcher’s duel over West Columbus
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — West Columbus has been knocking on Whiteville’s door recently as far as baseball supremacy in Columbus County. On Friday the defending 1-A state champions made sure the door is closed. Wolfpack pitcher Mackenzie Gore only gave up three hits on Friday. Whiteville managed to score two runs to beat West Columbus 2-0. Whiteville is now 4-0 in the Three Rivers Conference. West Columbus drops to 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference. Trey Benton took the loss on the mound for West Columbus. Benton struck out 5 Whiteville batters.
