Association donates school supplies

WILMINGTON — Some New Hanover County students will soon get some new supplies for school. That’s thanks to the New Hanover County Foster Parent Association.

The organization is sponsoring the drive to help needy students in the area. If you’d like to donate you can visit Independence Mall’s customer service desk. There you’ll see a tree with flip flops on it.

Each flip flop represents one child’s need for a back to school item. You can then buy the item and leave it under the tree.

Foster Parent Association representative Lisa Roberts said, “There are still a lot of flip flops on the tree. There’s at least 50 more that need to be picked off so that those children too can have the opportunity to have school items for school.”

The drive runs until this Sunday at Independence Mall. If you donate more than $200 worth of school supplies you will receive a $20 mall gift card.
