EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE: The Victorious Victor

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Remember back when the walk to school was in the snow, uphill, both ways? Cape Fear Academy senior Victor Agbafe could probably do it everyday with a smile on his face.
Sometimes you can just tell that someone gets it. I mean, reeeeallly gets what life is all about. And when they get what it’s all about in their teenage years….it’s Extraordinary!

There is no shortage of greatness inside Cape Fear Academy.
But today, the spotlight is on one extraordinary senior named Victor Agbafe.

Sure, he digs acting. “The thing I like about drama,” Agbafe told Daniel Seamans, “is the ability to express yourself.”

However, his future will surely involve a much bigger stage. “We really need to know that we can really make a difference,” Agbafe said. “If we can find something, whatever it is that you’re passionate about, and you’re willing to say ‘you know what, this is something I’m passionate about…I can make a difference’. Then I think we can make a difference now.”

Victor Agbafe is the Student Body President at Cape Fear Academy. He’s involved in youth and government programs across the state.
All of his current activities led to three honors for his future….
-He was just named a Morehead-Cain Scholar at UNC. Officials say fewer than 4% of 30,000 applicants get that honor.
-Victor was just named a 2015 Coca-Cola Scholar. He’ll get $20,000 in scholarship money for that one.
-And he just returned from the United States Senate Youth Scholarship Program in Washington DC. Only two from each state get this honor.

“The late night conversations you have with your peers,” he said of his recent trip to DC with other students from around the country, “it’s some outstanding invididuals, so motivating and inspiring(that)it wakes you up because these people around you could be President of the United States one day.”

Oh yeah, speaking of the current Commander-in-Chief? “We had the option to meet President Barack Obama,” Agbafe said with a huge smile. “He actually answered my question. That was amazing!!!”

Also amazing is Victor’s view on being a part of the community.

“I think in each and every stage in life you always have something you can give back,” Agbafe said. “If it’s not money, it’s time. It can be love, each and every day. Loving your brothers and sisters.”

Victor Agbafe….we can’t wait to see what’s in store for you in the future.
But whatever it is, it surely will be extraordinary….just like you.

Sidenote: Victor accomplished the rare feat of being accepted into all the IVY League schools.   He tells us he is going with Harvard.

Keep it up, Victor!
