Man lost at sea 66 days rescued

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Coast Guard says it is conducting a medevac of a man found on a disabled sailboat after going missing two months ago.

The Coast Guard says the boat is about 200 miles off the North Carolina coast.

The Coast Guard got a notification from the 1,085-foot, German-flagged motor vessel Houston Express at about 1:30 p.m. indicating they spotted Louis Jordan and the boat approximately 200 miles east of Cape Hatteras and took him aboard.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City at approximately 3:40 p.m. The helicopter is scheduled to meet the Houston Express, hoist the man and take him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia.

Jordan, 37, and his boat Angel were initially reported missing by his family Jan. 29.
