City to elect Mayor, 3 council members
WILMINGTON — It's Election Day in Wilmington Tuesday and the three candidates vying for mayor spent Monday doing some last-minute campaigning. In some cases that meant going door-to-door.
The candidates were busy meeting people, handing out information and just getting their names out there.
Harper Peterson walked around one neighborhood and spoke with some of his supporters about issues important to him and handed out fliers.
Justin LaNasa was working at his downtown tattoo and piercing parlor. He also walked the streets to talk with some locals.
Mayor Bill Saffo was in the Hanover Center greeting people out to lunch. He handed out stress balls, nail files and fliers.
Saffo said, "When you're running an election it's about getting out here and talking to the voters and debating the issues."
Peterson said, "It's always been my style to go out and meet and listen to people, see what's on their minds."
LaNasa said, "I've just been in the community talking with people and going out, hearing their concerns and just listening to what people have to say."
The candidates said they plan to visit polls throughout the city Tuesday.
