Fall temperatures slow to arrive
Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature it’s fall, with temperatures in our area hitting the low nineties. And we are far from alone.
A day after scorching heat stopped the Chicago marathon mid-race at least ten runners remain in serious or critical condition. The race course was littered with collapsed runners.
At a time when fall temperatures are supposed to be arriving temperatures are refusing to fall. In more than a third of the country temperatures are running 15 to 25 degrees above normal for this time of year.
Bruce Sullivan with the National Weather Service said, “You’ve got a sinking air mass that heats up it’s not allowing for a lot of shower or thunderstorm activity.”
Look for the oven to continue to simmer today in our area.
