Pender County School Board tightens attendance policy

PENDER COUNTY — The Pender County School Board is tightening the attendance policy. If high school students miss more than eight days of a course they won’t receive credit for it, regardless of their grades.

Both excused and unexcused absences will count.

The policy was changed by the Pender County School Board, which had permitted students to miss up to ten days.

The board is giving principals some flexibility when it comes to students with medical conditions.
