Firefighters to hold fund raiser ball

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Professional Firefighters Association is holding a big fund raiser Friday night in downtown Wilmington.

The association is not part of the Wilmington Fire Department. It is however made up of city of Wilmington firefighters.

The Fireman’s Ball will be Friday night at the Wilmington Convention Center.

Chief Sam Hill says he will not be attending because it is against state law for him, as chief, to be part of the Firefighters Association.

Half of the proceeds from tonight’s event go to Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
