Fans disappointed by Lil Wayne no-show
WILMINGTON — New Hanover High School's Brogden Hall was supposed to be filled with the sounds of rap artist Lil Wayne performing Sunday night. Instead, it was filled with the cries of angry fans.
Fans waited for Lil Wayne to take the stage, but the performer was a no-show, leaving fans demanding answers.
Lil Wayne fan Ashley Perrymon said, "I said, mommy, I ain't worried about nothing. I already bought my ticket and everything. I made sure I was coming."
And so were cops.
New Hanover County Sheriff Sid Causey said, "We don't think we have too many, and if we do, I'd rather have too many than not enough."
The Sheriff's Department said they expected a full house Sunday night. They made arrangements to keep watch over more than 4,000 people. But by nine o'clock only a fraction of that filled Brogden Hall.
Lil Wayne never showed up. And fans didn't take it lightly.
NewsChannel 3 heard unconfirmed reports that Lil Wayne didn't perform because he wasn't happy with the turnout and that the concert had not generated enough money.
No word yet if concert-goers will receive a refund.
