Man convicted of voluntary manslaughter

WILMINGTON — The trial of a man accused of gunning down his friend wrapped today.

Jason Gary was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter. He was on trial for first-degree murder in the death of his friend Shamar Brown in April of 2005.

Gary took the stand and said he opened fire in self defense.

Jurors say there was not enough evidence to convict Gary of first-degree murder.

Gary was sentenced to a minimum of ten years in jail.
