UNCW honors veterans

WILMINGTON — UNCW also honored Veterans Day with a service hosted by the student veterans’ organization. It’s made up of current military members, spouses and veterans at UNCW.

Speakers at the event included faculty and staff members who are veterans and a UNCW student who is also a Marine.
At 11 a.m. a moment of silence honored the 11th hour of November 11, 1918 when an armistice ended World War I.

Student Veterans Organization member and Vietnam veteran Ernest Kniffen said, “All the support that we’ve got from the faculty and staff just for the Veterans Day is phenomenal. You don’t have to go ask, they ask to participate.”

Kniffen takes classes at UNCW and started the Student Veterans Organization a few years ago.
