Debate brewing over Wrightsville Beach house
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — A debate is brewing in Wrightsville Beach over one resident’s house.
The house was built on wetlands along Beech Street. It was built illegally and the owner was fined, but he was allowed to keep his house.
Now he wants to subdivide his land and build another house on the property. Neighbors and public officials at a hearing today say he’s going too far.
Rep. Carolyn Justice said, “We’re running out of land to build on. And this is an attractive place to come. They’re building on every square inch and we don’t need to be building on every square inch.”
At last check the hearing was still going on.
We’ll have an update on the outcome of the hearing as soon as we get it.
