Travelers could see higher gas prices

People traveling on the road are seeing higher gas prices yet again. Oil prices are getting closer and closer to $100 a barrel.

Wednesday crude oil prices closed at $97 a barrel after hitting a record $99 earlier in the day.

Truck drivers are taking an especially big hit. Those filling up at one New Hanover County gas station were paying $200 and $300 a tank.

Even when their companies are paying for the gas drivers worry the high prices may result in less money in their pockets.

Sheldon Nixon is concerned about gas prices. He said, “I drive at least 30 to 40 miles to get to work and I fill up on Monday, by Wednesday I’ve got to fill up again. So yeah, that’s half of my check right there, filling up on gas.”

Nixon says it can cost up to $230 a day to fill up the truck he and his co-workers drive.
