Puppies stolen from animal shelter

BURGAW — A local animal shelter is missing a few puppies after a break in over the weekend.

Three boxer puppies were taken from the Pender County Humane Society. The puppies were a little over a month old.

The boxer puppies are valued at $125 each.

The dogs were already approved for adoption when they were snatched.

Shelter officials are still hoping they’ll be returned safely.

Robin Bennett with the Pender County Humane Society said, “I would caution any pet owners to please be careful with your little guys around the holidays. Don’t leave them unattended. There’s somebody out there that just doesn’t care about your feelings or your animals, they just care about they’re own personal gain.”

Bennett says she’s also concerned the animals may be used for dog fights.

If you have any information about the stolen dogs, please call the Burgaw Police Department at 910-259-4924.
