Monkey attacks store clerk

BURKE COUNTY — A store clerk in Burke County is recovering tonight, after being attacked by a monkey.

A customer came into the Family Food Mart with a pet monkey on his shoulder. When the clerk went to pet the monkey, it bit her on the cheek.

The clerk is taking antibiotics as a precaution, but animal control officers say the pet monkey had all of its shots, so she shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
