Man charged with killing FBI employee on trial

WILMINGTON — The trial of a man charged with killing an FBI employee in New Hanover County continues today.

The ex-wife of Tyrone Delgado testified against him in court yesterday.

Delgado is accused of strangling Melissa Mooney to death inside her home back in 1999.

It took six years for investigators to link him to the crime. They are preparing for a murder trial this March.

Seven women from across the country who say Delgado raped or attacked them are expected to testify in New Hanover County court in pre-trial motions.

Prosecutors hope to establish a pattern of behavior and use this testimony in Delgado’s murder trial.
