America remembers Pearl Harbor

Today America remembers a day that changed the course of history forever. December 7, 1941 is a date that will live in infamy.

That was the day, as president Franklin Roosevelt said, “The United States was suddenly and deliberately attacked.”

Today, veterans and other people will remember the day the Japanese attacked American forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, plunging the United States into World War II.

VFW post 72-88 in Calabash will honor victims and survivors during a brief ceremony at eight a.m. at the post.

There will also be a ceremony at the Pearl Harbor memorial in Battleship Park next to the USS North Carolina. The ceremony starts at 1:25 this afternoon — the exact local time of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
