Actor and director Tim Robbins praises Edwards
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Actor and film director Tim Robbins is backing Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.
Robbins joked yesterday that he’s not Oprah, as he backed the former North Carolina senator in a packed library auditorium in Iowa City. Oprah Winfrey toured three states last weekend pushing Barack Obama.
Robbins’s film credits include “Mystic River,” “Bull Durham” and “The Shawshank Redemption.”
Robbins says Edwards has been overlooked as the media focus on the clash between Hillary Clinton and Obama.
Robbins is not the only help Edwards expects. Kevin Bacon is to join Edwards later this week. Singer-song writers Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt are to perform at Edwards’ town meetings in New Hampshire next week.
Edwards is on an eight-day bus tour through Iowa.
