Convention center progress slow
WILMINGTON — It’s been almost two weeks since the Wilmington convention center’s groundbreaking, but the site is still pretty quiet.
Project manager Steve Bridges says contractors are expected to sign and return the contract by Tuesday.
Then a pre-construction meeting will map out the next steps.
Bridges says crews should be at the site working by mid-January.
Bridges said, “The contractor has to order the materials and that takes time to get. He also has to mobilize his trailer on the site and he has some surveying to do so there’s a lot of preliminary work that’s got to be done before you actually see equipment on the site.”
John S. Clark is the project’s contractor. Bridges says he doesn’t expect the current plans to change.
