NC suspends highway construction during holidays

RALEIGH (AP) — Road construction will be suspended through the Christmas and New Year holidays across North Carolina to ease traffic congestion and improve safety.

The state Department of Transportation said Monday that major construction projects on U.S. and interstate highways will be suspended beginning at 4 p.m this Friday and resume at 9 a.m. on January 2.

Transportation officials said work zone speed limits will remain in effect.
