Edwards: Iowa victory would erase his money gap for the long haul
DENISON, Iowa (AP) — John Edwards is predicting that a win in Iowa would help him close the financial gap between his campaign and those of Democratic rivals Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Edwards says he’s confident heading into Thursday’s caucuses. In an interview on NBC’s “Today” show this morning, Edwards noted “energy and momentum” in the state.
He calls it a “reality” that an Iowa victory will give him “plenty of money” to run his campaign. The former North Carolina senator can’t dip into his personal fortune because he’s using public campaign financing. So far, he’s raised far less cash than Clinton or Obama.
