Felon arrested after running from cop, dropping gun

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man who allegedly tried to run from a cop is in jail on gun charges.

An officer saw Victor Eugene Dorm, 24, walking down Loves Alley. As the officer approached, he says Dorm reached for his waistband as if he was going to pull a gun, then ran.

Another officer drove up in his patrol cruiser and cut off Dorm’s escape. Dorm dropped a semi-automatic handgun. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and resisting arrest.

Department of Corrections records show Dorm has multiple convictions for drug possession.
