Local kids take port tour
WILMINGTON — A group of local kids had a chance to find out why Wilmington is called the Port City.
The community in schools organization took a group of 15 local children to the port of Wilmington today.
It was all part of a mentoring program. Many of the volunteer mentors also work for the port as longshoremen.
The group learned about the importance of port security and what it’s like to work at the port.
