Crews to shut down part of Market Street Monday

WILMINGTON — A traffic alert if you’re planning on driving through Wilmington: the 5600 block of Market Street is shut down heading into the city after a delivery truck crashed into a fire hydrant.

City crews were out there all afternoon. They are expected to have the water line fixed by tonight.

DOT crews will pave and repair the roadway tomorrow morning, and hopefully have at least one southbound lane back open by noon.

The DOT engineer we spoke to says, bottom line, the street is unsafe.

There is a detour set up so traffic still can get into that part of Wilmington, just plan on adding a little extra time to your trip.
