Hewett subpoenas reference inmate work

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — We're finally hearing new information about the subpoenas issued for some of Brunswick County sheriff Ron Hewett's family members and deputies. Federal investigators requested information about Hewett and 27 other people. The subpoenas reference inmate work issued by the sheriff during the month of October. Sources within the law enforcement community say Hewett had inmates do yardwork at his house in preparation for his son's wedding. That wedding took place October 20. That information has not been confirmed. Those subpoenaed are expected to testify tomorrow and Thursday.
