“Italian-American Reconciliation” comes to Wilmington

A local theater company is bringing a slice of Italian-American life to Wilmington.

The Bona Fide theater group will be performing playwright John Patrick Shanley’s Italian American Reconciliation.

The play debuted in 1988 in New York City with Hollywood stars John Tuturro and Laura SanGiacomo.

It takes place in New York City’s Little Italy and is what the author calls a “folktale” — about two men who are having trouble in their personal lives.

“It’s regular people in regular circumstances. But they lift it up so that it’s kind of extraordinary because it’s always right in the heat of the moment,” said actor Seth Carpenter, who plays the part of Aldo.

“It’s a small cast and it’s very fast moving and it’s very funny and it starts out actually right in the audience and it ends right out in the audience as well,” Carpenter said. “So it really grabs you from the beginning and takes you all the way through.”

The play opens at Thalian Hall next Friday and will be performed through next weekend.
