Man shot by officer released from hospital

WILMINGTON — An update this morning on the condition of the man shot by police Thursday night: Wilmington police say New Hanover Regional Medical Center released William Inman this weekend.

He appeared before a magistrate Saturday.

He’s charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, operating a video gambling machine, and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer.

Thursday night a Wilmington police officer shot Inman after he pulled a gun on officers serving search warrants at a suspected video poker operation.

That officer is on paid leave.

Inman is in the New Hanover County jail under $200,000 bond.
