NC campaign season underway

WILMINGTON — Campaign season in North Carolina is officially underway. Elections officials statewide began accepting applications at noon for the 2008 ballot.

In New Hanover County Jonathan Barfield Jr. and Jason Thompson filed for county commissioner.

Rep. Danny McComas filed for re-election and Michael Lee is running for a Senate seat.

The filing season ends February 29.
