Bellville students act out history
BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Some Brunswick County students acted out history today.
From leaders like Ben Franklin and Abe Lincoln to athletes like Michael Jordan ,second graders at Belville Elementary used information from social studies and reading lessons to dress up as famous Americans and put on a wax museum.
The kids stood still until parents and other students pressed a “button” on their hand to get them to tell the story of the person they played.
Belville Elementary Thursday also celebrated being one of three schools across the nation to win the SRA Pride award. It goes to schools that use a special curriculum to improve reading skills.
Administrators say the school’s end-of-grade test scores have increased dramatically in the last three years.
