Chamber of Commerce holds 141st annual meeting

WILMINGTON — It may have been its 141st annual meeting, but the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce was focused on the future Thursday.

More than 600 packed into the Coastline Convention Center downtown. New chairwoman Louise McColl says the chamber will be more involved with issues that affect the community.

McColl said, “We’re going to continue to be involved with the convention center, hoping to get that finished and completed, and also with the skyway bridge and transportation issues.”

McColl said transportation issues are one of the chamber’s primary concerns. She said she intends to find creative ways for the chamber to work with Raleigh and the Department of Transportation to resolve them.
