Water issues in Lake Waccamaw

Lake Waccamaw, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Lake Waccamaw is asking water consumers of the Lake Waccamaw Water System in Columbus County to conserve and boil their water.

Town officials say the water system is experiencing periods of low pressure and outages that increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system. They say the problem is linked to a leaking water main along Canal Cove Rd.

Once water is restored, the Division of Water Resources wants consumers to boil all water used for human consumption or use bottled water until further notice.
