Wilmington City Council to meet tonight to discuss current water restrictions

The grass may soon be greener in the Port City.

The Wilmington City Council will meet tonight to discuss whether to relax water restrictions… allowing homeowners to water their lawns for the first time in five months.

The new proposal would let residents with odd-numbered addresses to use sprinkler systems from Midnight to 6 am on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Even-numbered homes could water on Mondays and Thursdays.

Another proposal on the agenda calls for an increase in the city’s power of enforcing watering laws.

Currently, the enforcement officer must see someone in violation to warn or cite them.

The council meeting starts at 6:30 tonight at City Gall.
