Investigators clear helicopter wreckage

WILMINGTON — Investigators spent the day removing the wreckage from yesterday’s fatal helicopter crash.

The crash happened in the 5900 block of Carolina Beach Road.

Investigators with the national transportation safety board spent much of the day reviewing evidence.

Wilmington Fire Department Cpt. John Miller died in the crash.

Investigators will review mechanical aspects, pilot experience, weather conditions and many other factors before determining the cause.

A preliminary report is expected next week.
