Green Celebration
Downtown Wilmington went green Saturday afternoon.
The city celebrated St. Patrick’s Day — an international holiday that honors one of Ireland’s patron saints.
Here in Wilmington, people of all ages wore green clothing as part of their tribute. The festival, on the corner of Princess and Water streets, featured Irish food, music and, of course, lots and lots of beer.
“Back then…you couldn’t drink the water so everybody in Europe drank beer! Really that’s it. So we’re just carrying on the tradition,” joked Tom Getz, who is half Irish.
The actual St. Patrick’s day is on Monday, March 17th.
