Local developer dies in plane crash

A local developer died in a single engine plane crash near Charlotte yesterday afternoon. New Hanover County developer Wesley Ward Manning was the only one on board.

The accident happened outside a subdivision in Union County. Emergency responders say it appears the plane crashed nose first into the ground. The plane is registered to Manning Companies.

Manning is the developer building Park Place at Carolina Beach and a hotel project at Wrightsville Beach.
