Rumble at CFCC

More than 100 fighters packed Cape Fear Community College’s Schwartz center this afternoon for the Cape Fear Sub-x mixed martial arts tournament.

Fighters competed for trophies in more than a half dozen different categories of martial arts fighting.
It may look like a rough sport, but fighter Chris Nemes says he enjoys competing.

“I’ve actually always done team sports and this is actually one on one so if you win it’s cause of you and if you lose, it’s cause of you…that’s what I like about it,” Nemes said.

The tournament was put on by Evolution mixed martial arts in Wrightsville Beach. Organizers said they hope the tournament helps raise interest for the sport in our area.
