Helicopter crash investigation results released

WILMINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board has released preliminary results of the investigation into what caused a recent helicopter crash.

Wilmington Fire Cpt. John Miller’s Robinson R-22 went down March 13 off Carolina Beach Road.

The NTSB reports that Miller was trying to make a forced landing. And that the chopper was missing a section of one of the rotor blades.

He had been with the Wilmington fire department since 1990.
