Detectives seize ‘hell razor’ heroin

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A significant amount of heroin is off the street. New Hanover County Sheriff’s detectives made a pretty big drug bust Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives say the street value of the heroin seized is between $40,000 and $50,000.

Two women are in custody: 19-year-old Portia Mayor and 24-year-old Chanita Davis.
Authorities are still looking for a third suspect, 23-year-old Nathan Davis.

The bust comes following a five-month investigation. Detectives had been keeping an eye on Davis and the two women.

Tuesday detectives attempted to pull Davis’s car over. He tossed some of the drugs out of his car on Oleander Drive, then took off.

Cpt. B.D. Blackmon said, “I’ve got guys that are used to working these types of cases, I have full confidence that we will locate him, that he will be placed into custody.”

The car was found a short time later with nearly 1,000 bags of heroin inside.

The heroin seized is what was known as “hell razor,” or “cookout” — a stronger form of the drug, that is known to have caused more overdoses.

Detectives say about five deaths have been linked to “hell razor” in the last five months.
