NC Dems invite Clinton, Obama to April 27 debate; Clinton agrees

RALEIGH (AP) — The North Carolina Democratic Party has invited presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama to debate later this month, and Clinton says she’ll be there.

Clinton said Thursday that she agreed to the April 27 debate, to be broadcast by CBS News. She said the specific time and location have yet to be worked out.

State Democratic Party chairman Jerry Meek said he has yet to get a response from Obama’s campaign, which did not immediately return calls seeking comment. Obama had previously accepted a proposed CBS debate in North Carolina for April 19.

Clinton also said she will begin airing a television advertisement in North Carolina that invites voters to submit questions via a new Web site.
