Thief leaves cell phone at scene

GREENSBORO (AP) — Police say they tracked down a young man accused of robbing a gas station using a knife as a weapon because of a cell phone left at the scene.

WSJS News reports today that after the robbery Saturday night, police used telephone records to track down the suspect and arrest him on Sunday.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports that police charged 19-year-old Shawn Johnson with armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Bond information wasn’t available immediately.
