Four firms are finalists for Bragg construction

FORT BRAGG (AP) — Officials say four construction firms have been selected as finalists for the contract to build the new 650,000-square-foot headquarters for the U.S. Army Forces Command and Reserve Command.

The BRAC Regional Task Force said Monday the project is estimated to cost between $250 million and $500 million. It is scheduled for groundbreaking this fall and completion in summer 2011.

The two commands are moving from Fort McPherson, Ga., as part of a 2005 recommendation by the federal Base Closure and Realignment Commission.

The finalists are from outside North Carolina.
