Police fatally shoot man in Wilson

WILSON, N.C. (AP) – Wilson police officers have fatally shot a man suspected in an early-morning shooting.

Police told WRAL-TV in Raleigh on Monday that officers responded to a report of shots fired just after 4:00 a.m. When police arrived, a man brandishing a gun failed to comply with police orders. Police shot the man, and he later died.

The man’s name has not been released.

A person suspected to have been shot by the man was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. No word yet on that person’s condition.

Under standard procedure, the State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case.
