Undecided superdelegates don’t feel bound by primaries

WASHINGTON (AP) — Many Democratic superdelegates who are still undecided say the most important factor in their decision is simple — they just want a winner in November.

But after nearly four months of primaries and caucuses, they still aren’t sure who that is and they don’t seem in a hurry to make up their minds.

It also appears they’re not interested in any artificial process that might force them to choose between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

North Carolina superdelegate David Parker said he’d prefer to endorse the best candidate. But Parker says he can’t find any distinguishing factors to help him decide. His strategy now is to consider which candidate is most electable and whether the candidates will help others down the ballot.

There are 17 superdelegates in North Carolina, and Parker is one of the ten who remain undecided. Of those who have made a choice, they’re backing Obama 6-1.
