Adolescents experience depression
According to a new study, an estimated two million American adolescents have experienced major depression within the last year.
Nearly 13 percent of girls had struggled with depression, compared to about five percent of boys.
Odds of depression increased with age.
About half of those with depression said the illness had a serious impact on their daily life.
Doctors say parents should watch for warning signs, such as changes in their teens’ eating or sleeping behavior, extreme moodiness, and social isolation.
