The Avett Brothers rocked downtown’s stage and sold out the venue
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A peaceful night sky welcomed a noisy crowd downtown for the Friday Azalea Festival concert.
The Avett Brothers rocked the stage Downtown with a unique sound that sold out the venue completely. The band even attracted hundreds of fans to the outskirts of the CFCC parking lot. They say the show was just as good.
“I’m standing on the steps of a building that I don’t really know what it is,” said Avett Brother fan Bailey Parker. “But I can see them just fine and I can hear the music just as well as anyone could in there. I’m free to dance out here and not be closed in.”
“I love it. I think it is just as good as actually being in there,” said Royce Broadright. “I saw them a while ago, and I am actually closer than I was last time.”
Other folks passed on the concert and instead enjoyed tasty treats and fun games along Water Street for the Azalea Festival Street Fair.
Really, the only thing people had to complain about were those annoying gnats.
The Azalea Festival Street Fair continues through Sunday. Country bands Colt Ford and The Lacs will rock the Downtown stage Saturday.
